Fred H. Shak, age 76, of Grayslake, died Friday, November 18, 2005 at Highland Park Hospital. Born April 11, 1929 in Chicago to Fred H. and Hertha, nee Kiehl, Shak. Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from AT&T in 1984 after 22 years and had been a Mason for 46 years at Rising Sun Lodge No. 115 in Grayslake. His hobbies included shooting, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife Ilse of Grayslake; his children Diane (Wayne) Ahlquist of Rolling Meadows, Fred Shak of Ingleside; three stepchildren Bodo Weber of Michigan, Marina (Bob) Mirrilees of Round Lake Beach, and Eric (Diane) Weber of Tennessee; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, November 21 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. Friends of the family may visit on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Strang.
