Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu has found his next directing assignment, coming on board co-write and direct “The Birdman.” The project will mark Inarritu’s first comedy after a string of dramas. He last directed “Biutiful” starring Javier Bardem in 2010 and has taken his time in finding his next project. Pic tells the story of an actor known for playing an iconic superhero who faces a crisis as he battles his ego and attempts to recover his family and his career in the days leading up to the opening of a Broadway play. “Birdman” will be produced by Inarritu, Robert Graf and John Lesher. Production is slated to begin in March. Inarritu and the film are repped by CAA.
