In 1997, Malik Yusef said in the song “My City” on Common’s third album that he was thinking about moving to River Oaks. We asked Yusef whether he saw any connection between his lyrics and the situation of Chicago artist Chief Keef who some thought had moved to Northbrook, it has now been established he was only working out of a recording studio there.
