The North Western Station, the jewel of Metra terminals following completion last year of a $141 million renovation, on Wednesday was renamed the Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center.

The former governor’s widow, Dorothy Ogilvie, was the guest of honor at a dedication ceremony at the station, 500 W. Madison St.

“Many have overlooked Dick’s foresight on transportation, especially his contribution to public transit in the Chicago metropolitan region,” Metra chairman Jeffrey Ladd said before unveiling a plaque in Ogilvie’s honor.

Ogilvie pushed for the creation of the Regional Transportation Authority.
