Hector “Macho” Camacho was arrested Saturday on a drunken driving charge after a sheriff’s deputy who stopped him said the boxer couldn’t walk a straight line and refused to submit to a urine test.
Camacho, a former WBC super featherweight and lightweight champion, got out of jail on $500 bond on the misdemeanor driving under the influence charge, Orange County jail authorities said.
Orange County deputy Gerald Preston spotted the 35-year-old Camacho driving his vehicle from an Orlando apartment complex at 2:30 a.m., weaving and without the headlights on.
He said Camacho smelled strongly of alcohol, was slurring his speech and admitted he had been drinking and playing pool.
The officer said Camacho couldn’t walk a straight line.
The boxer agreed to the urine test at first, Preston said, but after several questions about drugs, changed his mind and refused to take the test.
Refusing to take a blood-alcohol test prompts an automatic driver’s license suspension.
