Julia A. Deering, 83, of Schaumburg, a former bookkeeper at Kemper Insurance in Long Grove, died of a heart attack Wednesday, March 13, in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Deering was born in West Frankfort, Ill. She served in the Women’s Air Corps, stationed in Lubbock, Texas, during World War II. She married in 1945. In the mid-1950s she began working at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, spending 10 years in the pharmaceutical manufacturing division. In 1954 she and her husband moved to Grayslake, where she was a Democratic Party election judge in 1987 and 1988. Mrs. Deering was a bookkeeper for Kemper during the 1970s. She retired in 1983 and moved to Schaumburg in 2000. “She was loving, warm, caring and was always there for us,” said her daughter Mari-Ann,. Other survivors include another daughter, Margaret Frick; a son, Con; and four grandchildren. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine.
