A recent news article was misinterpreted by some to indicate that the Greater State Street Council favored moving festivals out of Grant Park. Not so.

On the contrary, we are delighted with the major events the city holds there and feel that they produce much psychological and practical benefit to the downtown.

To scale events back, and move them from their current central location, would be diametrically opposed to our and the city`s efforts to bring the central city alive.

The Park District has held planning sessions for two years on improving the whole park. With the professionalism of the designers and planners, combined with sensitivity to the crucial interaction between park and downtown, the result should be of real satisfaction to everyone.
