In the old days boxing matches were held in nasty, sweaty, dank places, but these days even pugilism has gone upscale. Dominic Pesoli, founder of 8 Count Productions, is bringing seven professional boxing matches to the Park West on Friday. Local favorites Mike “The Fly” Garcia and Rocky “The Mexican Kid” Martinez are headlining the event, which will include the Illinois state junior lightweight championship bout. Pesoli would like to see big-name boxers fighting in Chicago again, but this match is mainly a showcase for local talent. The matches begin at 8 p.m., and ticket prices start at $25; ringside seats cost $50. Call 312-280-7905.
