Cuatro personas fueron baleadas, dos fatalmente, en el suburbio de Cicero el lunes mientras disturbios y protestas por el asesinato del afroamericano George Floyd a manos de un policía blanco continuaron.

El portavoz de la ciudad de Cicero Ray Hanania, confirmó las muertes a WGN News. Hanania dijo que al menos 60 personas fueron arrestadas el lunes.

Hanania también le dijo a la televisora que “agitadores externos” llegaron a Cicero ante el cierre del centro de Chicago. “Los disparos fueron realizados por esos agitadores y saqueadores externos que no son residentes de Cicero”, agregó.

Las identidades de las personas que fueron asesinadas aún no han sido reveladas. No se proporcionó ninguna información adicional.

Hanania dijo que más de 100 policías de Cicero están patrullando con la asistencia de unos 120 policías estatales y del condado.

“Hemos visto empleados en varias tiendas minoristas frente a sus tiendas con palos y otras armas, protegiendo sus negocios”, dijo Hanania. “Les hemos instado a que nos dejen hacer nuestro trabajo y no poner sus vidas en peligro”.

Varias cuadras al este de Dollar Busters, los saqueadores dañaron otras pequeñas empresas. En el caos, dos personas fueron alcanzadas por disparos.

“Los agitadores externos dispararon al menos a dos personas cerca de 50th Street y Cermak Road”, dijo Hanania. “Pero la policía detuvo a los tres sospechosos involucrados en el tiroteo. Estos eran agitadores externos que conducían a través de Cicero buscando causar problemas “.
