Talking about his efforts to push gun-control legislation, Mayor Richard Daley went off like a .357 Magnum last week when a reporter asked him if Gov. Rod Blagojevich was doing enough to advance the cause.
“Everybody is trying to get me to fight the governor,” Daley declared. “I think that is the kind of gig you guys are doing. … It’s a gig. You want me to scream and yell about the governor and you say, `Mayor Daley fights the governor.’
“It’s really a big gig, and you guys are the biggest giggers,” the mayor continued.
“It’s a gig,” he repeated, in case anybody didn’t catch him the first, second and third times he said it. “You need a show, and I’m not going to give it to you.”
