Rep. DeLoris Doederlein`s admission of a conflict of interest as a leading opponent to restricting semiautomatic weapons in Illinois and her charge that ”everybody down here (state legislature), whatever business they`re in…has a conflict of interest,” is at least honest and candid.

Sen. John Davidson (R., Springfield), who is also a chiropractor, has been as successful as the NRA and Rep. Doederlein in shooting down reform legislation that would require chiropractors to earn a living adjusting spines, minus all the medical and physical therapy methods that so many are involved in at great expense to consumers.

As far as I know, Rep. Doederlein doesn`t give away or sell semiautomatic weapons at cut-rates to her colleagues. But Sen. Davidson uses a chiropractic adjusting table in the nurses` office on the second floor of the state capitol where he makes no bones about ”manipulating” his fellow legislators for free and denies that this might be a conflict of interest. And he is not shy about sponsoring or opposing bills that coincide with his views on a very broad scope of practice for chiropractors.

We ought to learn more about all the conflicts of interest.
