Wondering what to do with those leftover marshmallow Peeps chicks and bunnies? Here’s a cheep, er, cheap and easy, recycled idea:

You may remember the Easter basket we made last year with Peeps. Well, we still have it. We were so proud of our creation that we couldn’t part with it — and after feeling how rock-solid it got, we surely wouldn’t chow on it. So we displayed it all year, and even let our (jealous) co-workers paw it. And it didn’t attract a single ant! A few bunny ears fell off the basket, but we just glued ’em back.

Want to make your own Peeps basket that lasts for ages? OK, quick as a bunny, here once again is the Easter basket recipe created by the Peeps people:

SMOOSH

Smoosh three connected Peeps bunnies (or chicks) hard with your palm. That becomes the basket bottom.

MIX

Mix 2 cups of confectioner’s sugar with water until it’s gluey. Place that gluey icing along the edges of the basket bottom.

STAND

Stand Peeps up along those edges; patiently hold till they stick. Place jelly beans into any holes and cover with icing. Splash a layer of icing along the inside.

CHILL

Chill the basket in the fridge overnight.

We added green food coloring to coconut and plopped it in the basket, but you don’t have to, since Easter’s over.
