PEORIA, Ariz. — Dayan Viciedo became the first Chicago player to homer in this year’s Arizona Fall League when he went deep Thursday.

The White Sox third base prospect turned on an 0-2 pitch from Astros righty Dan Meszorak and deposited it on the berm well beyond the 385-foot sign in left-center in the Peoria Javelinas’ 17-9 romp over the Peoria Saguaros. The homer capped a 3-for-5 day for Viciedo. He also singled twice, walked and scored three runs.

But Sox pitcher Jacob Rasner was shelled for four runs on four hits in just one-third of an inning.

In Surprise, the Cubs’ Josh Vitters stayed hot with a 2-for-4 effort as Mesa’s designated hitter in a 12-5 loss. He singled twice and is now 5-for-8.
