Pemberton H. Shober Jr., in his letter (Oct. 1) supporting school vouchers, feels it is offensive to parents of private school students to have to subsidize public education. It should be apparent that all citizens have a stake in the education of all children for the sake of society.

As a public school teacher, I would not be opposed to vouchers if the private schools, while accepting public money, will also accept children with academic, emotional and/or behavioral problems, who, when applying to their schools, are not told to “go to the public school up the street” as any public school teacher can tell you happens now.
