Three executives criminally charged for concealing rodent-infested conditions at a South Side food warehouse regularly sent employees on “rat patrols” to remove dead rats and rat droppings from the warehouse, authorities alleged.

According to a federal indictment made public Wednesday, the warehouse manager sometimes marked the initials “MM”–short for Mickey Mouse, authorities said–on records to show food products were damaged by rodents.

The charges come a little more than a year after federal regulators seized 22 million pounds of meat, poultry, fish, nuts, butter and other food items at the LaGrou Cold Storage warehouse at 2101 W. Pershing Rd.
