A suspected bank robber is in custody after a Lakeview neighborhood bank was robbed this afternoon for the second time in over a month, according to FBI officials.

The robbery happened shortly before 2 p.m. at the Fifth Third Bank banch, 640 W. Diversey Parkway, said FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde.

The man who robbed the bank is described as a white man between 30 and 40 years old who is about 6 feet 1 inches tall, Hyde said. The man was wearing a black bandanna, black sunglasses and a black shirt.

Hyde later said that a man was in custody and charges were pending.

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The same bank was robbed Aug. 5 by a white man about 6 feet tall who appeared to be in his late 40s or 50s, officials said.
