John Patrick Galan, D.D.S., suddenly, dearly beloved son of Henry John and Gertrude, nee Johnson, Galan, passed away Oct. 22, 2006. Dear brother of Kerry Kevin (Jan) Galan; adored uncle and godfather of Marisa Nicole Galan and Natalie Antoinette Galan; deeply loved fiance of Dolly Thomas, who was the love of his life and he showed it without hesitation; precious special grandfather of Ethan Benjamin Thomas, Noah William Thomas and Kyla McKenzie Lau. Dr. John cherished his godfathers, Eugene Damian and Robert J. Smith Sr. He was born in Oak Park, IL, attended St. Celestine and St. Norbert Catholic grammar school, Notre Dame High School for Boys where he lived his life as a true Don as the boys were earnestly taught. He graduated with high honors from Northwestern University with a degree in arts and sciences. He also received a degree in liberal arts and sciences with high honors from the University of Illinois. His professional degree as Doctor of Dental Surgery was received from Loyola University. He was a member of Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity. Dr. John was a resident of Northbrook for 51 years. Dr. John was so beloved by his many patients and associates, as well as his many friends who held him in the highest regard. Dr. John contributed to and supported many charities and private individuals who benefited from his deeply felt encouragement and tremendous knowledge. Dr. John was a most kind and thoughtful individual who placed a high degree of accomplishment on everyone who came in contact with him. He was a wonderful pianist with a love of classical as well as contemporary music and was an extremely talented chess player. His parents, fianc and the rest of his family loved him dearly and will endeavor to carry on the rest of their lives, remembering all the fun-filled times and memorable experiences. Dr. John truly was a Renaissance man in every sense of the word. He will be sorely missed and we will carry him in our hearts with all our love forever. Visitation Saturday 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Brook Church, 3700 Dundee Rd. Northbrook. Interment private. Donations made to American Heart Association, 208 S.
