The massive 340-pound defensive tackle enjoyed an excellent off-season recovering from injuries that have plagued his short career. At a mini-camp, defensive coordinator Fritz Shurmur tagged him “an awesome force.” Playing next to free-agent acquisition Santana Dotson and between ends Reggie White and Sean Jones, Brown is in a special position to stop the run and cave in the pocket by himself if healthy.
One reason the Packers lost to the Cowboys for the sixth straight time last season is the Cowboys were able to drive 99 yards to break a tie just before the half, after tackle John Jurkovic was knocked out with a knee injury. With Jurkovic gone to Jacksonville and middle linebacker Fred Strickland gone to Dallas in free agency, Brown must step up and help clog the middle.
