Favorite play: “Marisol,” by Jose Rivera, and Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Both are influential and inspiring. “Marisol” is haunting and beautiful and scary and hopeful at the same time. “Hamlet” is the greatest play ever written in the English language. It’s filled with everything that life is about.

Last good book you read: “Peel My Love Like an Onion” by Ana Castillo. It’s about a simple and quirky love affair, and Castillo uses a unique writing style–the punctuation, syntax and structure are unconventional.

Last good movie you saw: “Monsters Inc.” I have two small children, and we don’t get out much. When we do, it’s to see something like “Monsters Inc.”

Favorite way to relax: Cycling up Sheridan Road on a beautiful day or having a drink with my wife while watching “All in the Family” reruns or Letterman after the kids are in bed.

Guilty pleasure: Good beer and chocolate banana malts. I got turned on to chocolate banana malts at a drugstore in Utah. Every time I get a chocolate malt, I ask them to put a banana in it.
