Libertyville’s eighth-ranked Wildcats will have to wait one more day to find out whom they will play in a girls’ state soccer tournament quarterfinal Friday at Conant High School.

The Wildcats (15-4-1) and fourth-ranked Maine South (18-3-1) were the only area teams to challenge the sloppiest field conditions of the season Tuesday, as Libertyville prevailed 1-0 behind a goal from Jen Hobbs in double overtime at the Stevenson supersectional.

Heavy rains and poor field conditions postponed the other five area supersectionals to Wednesday. Libertyville will face the winner of the Hinsdale South supersectional between Mother McAuley and Downers Grove South.

The Wildcats, who won the 1991 state title under coach Andy Bitta, will be making their sixth appearance in the state tournament.

Downstate powers Granite City and Peoria Richwoods will battle each other in the last quarterfinal Friday.

Granite City (15-4-2) edged Chatham Glenwood 3-2 with goals by Jamie Dellbrindge, Michelle Montgomery and Amber Hubert.

Peoria Richwoods (21-3-1) advanced with a 5-4 double overtime triumph over Springfield at the Richwoods supersectional. Andrea Drum tied the game for Richwoods with four minutes remaining in regulation, and Kelly Gilbert tallied the game-winner on a penalty kick.

Wednesday’s supersectional matchups feature Oak Park vs. No. 4 New Trier at Niles West, second-ranked Waubonsie Valley vs. Sandburg at Naperville Central, No. 5 Palatine vs. Rockford Boylan at Barrington and top-ranked St. Charles vs. No. 9 Glenbard West at Wheaton-Warrenville South.
