I want to commend the Tribune for its editorial “Immigration in the wake of terror.” On the heels of one of the most tragic events in our nation’s history, now is the time to progress, not regress.

Before the horrible events of Sept. 11, our nation made significant advances in immigration reform. Lawmakers were discussing legalization measures for some undocumented immigrants who are already working in this country and began collaborating with foreign governments to address the immigration flow.

Although we are still in mourning for the victims of the Sept. 11 tragedies, our nation must continue to move forward on immigration reform for the good of our country. I want to thank the Tribune for reminding us of America’s proud immigrant tradition and look forward to reading more.
