I would like to express my disbelief that Jesse Jackson would indeed launch a presidential campaign under his so-called Rainbow Coalition for the elections of 1988. It is totally unrealistic for the Democratic Party to view Jesse Jackson as a power broker and a policy force within the Democratic Party.

Mr. Jackson is a media creation, not a legitimate candidate for the presidency of the United States of America. If Mr. Jackson were a person of great sensitivity and sincerity, the millions wasted on an ill-fated, ill-starred quest for the White House could best be spent in the black community for decent housing, jobs, crime prevention, senior citizen services and educational support for the black community.
