Karen Lewis’ piece, “Union president fires back at critic of CPS teachers” (Perspective Sept. 14), criticizing Bruce Rauner was shockingly sophomoric, and unintentionally quite revealing. Instead of defending her teachers, she criticized him for his money and political clout. Rauner’s piece was reasoned and smart. Hers was shrill and almost childlike with its name-calling. I don’t have kids in the Chicago Public Schools, and if this is its level of intellectual rigor as demonstrated by their teachers’ leader, I’m glad I don’t.
