Mary Aasgaard Leon, 64, of Chicago, died Friday at Trinity West, Rock Island. She was executive secretary to the operations mgr. of Home Insurance until 1995. She was a graduate of Wright College in Chicago. She was a past Illinois PTA Vice President chairing the Year of the Child project. She was on the 14th District Chicago Police Dept Advisory Board. She was a past president of the Norwegian National League of Chicago and active in the Sons of Norway and Elks Auxillary. Her uncle “Jack” Aasgaard was a former professor of Theology at Augustana College. Survivors include husband of 43 years Arthur; treasured grandson Erik Aasgaard; daughter-in-law Kathy Leon Aasgaard; brother Drew Aasgaard of Rock Island; nephews Joshua Aasgaard of New Orleans, James Aasgaard of Rapid City, and Thor and Jorday Aasgaard of Houston; nieces Betty Aasgaard of Henderson NV, Celina Leon of Chicago, Felicia Watson of S.F., Linda and Sharon Reininger of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her son Rick Leon and brothers Robert Aasgaard of Houston and James Aasgaard of New Orleans. Cremation locally, no visitation. Memorial service in Chicago, arrangements pending.
