We recently interviewed actress Lindsay Lohan in Manhattan. The Long Island, N.Y., native starred in the newly released film “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen” and in last summer’s comedy hit “Freaky Friday.” We have been big fans of the 17-year-old actress since we first saw her in the movie “The Parent Trap.”
Who are your favorite performers?
I like Beyonce right now. I am listening to a really cool band called Rooney. Liz Phair is cool and I like Avril Lavigne.
Was it hard playing two people in “The Parent Trap?”
It was hard because it was my first movie, and I didn’t know what to do. There were all these cameras on the movie set and I was kind of scared, but it was fun.
When you are home on Long Island, do you find it hard to go out and do stuff?
Not really. I don’t think anyone on Long Island really cares. . . . I am a normal person and I go to the movies and to the mall.
What was your life like before you became famous?
I still don’t consider myself famous. … I was about 3 or 4 [when] I started acting and modeling, so I don’t remember.
Do you go to a regular school?
I have always gone to a regular school, but this year I [was] home schooled because it is hard when I leave and come back and I don’t know what is going on.
If you could change your job and be something else, what would it be?
I am into style and fashion, and maybe I could style some clothes. I am interested in going to law school.
Have you other talents besides acting?
I like to sing and I have always loved to dance. I think anyone can be talented in whatever they want, as long as they focus on it.
Do you plan to do a series?
Right now . . . I want to concentrate on my singing and movies.
Do you have any siblings?
Yes. I have a brother, Michael, 15, a sister Allie, she is 9, and a sister Dakota who is 7. We have a very crazy house.
Do you have any pets?
I have a dog. She is a miniature bichon.
What advice would you give to kids who look up to you?
That is scary that people look up to me. I would say you should just be yourself and have fun. Don’t try and think about the hard stuff in life. Just be comfortable with yourself and don’t try to be anyone else.
