Lifetime’s highly anticipated “Liz & Dick” telepic drew 3.5 million viewers Sunday night.

The viewer total could be considered a disappointment with all the pre-debut buzz the project was getting in social media outlets, as well as the publicity that came with Lindsay Lohan on board to play bigscreen icon Elizabeth Taylor.

Biopic of Taylor and Richard Burton’s tumultuous love affairs drew 1.3 million in the 18-49 demo and 1.3 million in adults 25-54. Among 25-54 women, which is the cabler’s sweet spot, the film garnered 1 million viewers.

Comparatively speaking, Lifetime’s original film remake of “Steel Magnolias,” with Queen Latifah, drew 6.5 million in October.

Lohan, whose career started out very promisingly, has had trouble landing projects since her bouts with the law and her affection for partying.

Also starring Grant Bowler as Burton, “Liz & Dick” was directed by Lloyd Kramer and written by Christopher Monger. Larry A. Thompson was exec producer.
