Lufthansa German Airlines filed an application with the Transportation Department for a one-year extension of rights to fly from Charlotte, N.C., to Frankfurt, Germany. The airline began offering three flights a week from Charlotte to Germany on Aug. 1. The authority to operate these flights expires Jan. 27.
