Della A. Burt, associate vice chancellor of Liberal Arts and Sciences for the City Colleges of Chicago since 1986, has been named provost and acting president of Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Van Buren St., it was announced.
Burt replaces James C. Griggs, who is out on medical leave. When he returns, he will assume a new position in the central administration offices of the City Colleges.
Burt, who joined the City Colleges of Chicago in 1969 as an English professor at Loop College, will remain president until a search committee finds a permanent replacement.
