Chicago’s first week of baseball has been a blast so far–and it’s not over yet.
With just six home games in the books–three on each side of town–26 home runs have already been hit, including a dozen on Thursday when the Cubs dumped the Pirates 10-5 and the White Sox clipped the Royals, 6-5.
The Cubs launched four homers to Pittsburgh’s three at Wrigley Field, but there’s no doubt the single biggest dinger of the week came Thursday when Magglio Ordonez’s solo shot in the 10th inning gave the Sox a three-game sweep of the Royals.
Now the Sox head to Tampa Bay for a weekend series before returning next week to face the Yankees at home.
But with unseasonably warm weather and strong winds forecast for this weekend, the Cubs stick around town and face Cincinnati for the first Wrigley Field weekend series of the season.
