Republicans have made a point since taking over the House of Representatives in mid-term to insist that Medicare and Social Security as we know it should cease to exist for the next generation of workers.

Republican governors have declared war against public employee unions and against organized labor in general. In short, this is an assault on the vast American working class.

States with Republican governors and majority of their legislative bodies have passed legislation infringing on the rights of women to make any decisions regarding an unwanted pregnancy without significant state interference.

With these and many other affronts to the vast majority of citizens of this country, it is staggering to believe the next election may result in the election of a Republican president, their retention of the House of Representatives and possible takeover of the United States Senate.

Hello Americans, is anyone home?
