Occupation: Actress.

Birthday: March 25, 1965.

Birthplace: Nelsonville, Ohio.

Current home: Los Angeles.

Marital status: Living with Robert Downey Jr. We just celebrated our sixth anniversary.

Working on: I`m appearing on ”Equal Justice” Wednesday nights on ABC-TV and making ”L.A. Story” with Steve Martin.

The book I`ve been recommending lately is: Charles Grodin`s autobiography, ”It Would Be So Nice If You Weren`t Here.”

Favorite childhood memory: Christmas with my family. There were eight kids and not much money, and we didn`t really celebrate birthdays, so this was the only time we were extravagant.

I`d give anything to meet: Sen. Joe Biden. I was so impressed with him when I went to Washington. I think he has a lot of terrific ideas and will play an important part in the future of the Democratic Party.

The worst part of my job is: You can`t plan things. My best friend from high school is getting married in August, and I`m in the wedding party. But if I`m shooting something and they won`t let me off, I won`t be able to be there. The worst advice my mother ever gave me was: ”Don`t ever leave home without a book.” You look really antisocial when you bring a book to a dinner party.

People who knew me in high school thought I was: Sheltered and square. I wasn`t on the cutting edge of life, but I wasn`t as naive as they thought I was.

I knew I was a grownup when I: Couldn`t consciously litter and couldn`t tell little lies and think it was OK.

The worst time of my life: When I took the SAT. I don`t test well, and I had this thing in my head that if I didn`t do well, I wouldn`t get into a good college, and if I didn`t get into a good college, I`d have a horrible life. I didn`t do particularly well, and I didn`t go to college. I was working too much and decided to wait. I`m still waiting.

Behind my back my friends say: ”How can she eat so much junk and stay so skinny?”

Three words that best describe me: Curious, political and happy.
