Before rookie Jim Converse can make his first major-league start, he will have to make a long trip. Converse’s next spring start will be Saturday in Vancouver against the Brewers. He will then go to extended spring training for additional work April 7. After that, he will join Triple-A Calgary for a start April 12, before joining the Mariners in Detroit for his first major-league start April 17. Converse yielded two hits in four scoreless innings Monday in Seattle’s 2-0 win over the San Diego Padres in Yuma.
