Creation of a legal skateboarding area was one of the suggestions made by Prospect Heights residents Wednesday night during a forum on recreation.

The Prospect Heights Park District held the community meeting in the Gary Morava Recreation Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Rd., seeking ideas for a new master plan.

The meeting, attended by about 25 residents, was moderated by the consulting firm of Papandrea and Associates of Prospect Heights.

Information gathered from residents Wednesday night and in a second meeting on the same subject at 10 a.m. Thursday morning in the Gary Morava Recreation Center will be used to shape a survey to be mailed to 2,000 randomly selected residents in early April. Residents will be asked their opinions on park facilities, programs and park grounds.

“Some of the best ideas have come from meetings like this,” said Susan Papandrea, president of the consulting firm.

The survey results are expected to be delivered to park officials by May 30.
