Vernon F. Taxis, 83 of Green died November 22, 2001 following a brief illness. A native of Wausau, Wisconsin, he was a resident of Chicago most of his life. Vern was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mildred; and is survived by daughter Cheryl (Jed) Guilloz; granddaughter Brooke (Todd) Theriot; brothers Melvin, Milton, Duane; nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends. He was a decorated Naval veteran having served his country during World War II in the South Pacific. Vern went on to have a successful career with the Oak Park Agency of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company retiring after 30 years service. He was a very active member of the Masonic orders, serving as Worshipful Master of St. George Lodge, Chicago, IL., in 1955. He also belonged to Medinah Shrine and was a tireless worker on behalf of the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children. Dad, your journey down “The Road of Life” was a “Noble Venture”. Thank you for letting us be a part of it. In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
