Mrs. Peter G. Torosian, known to her friends as “Betty,” age 102, of Chicago, passed away Saturday, September 8, sleeping in peace. Born in Catskill, New York on December 22, 1898, she moved to Chicago in the early 1920’s. Betty was a glamorous, witty and precise lady. Known for her elegant entertaining, world traveling, and philanthropy, she was a tireless volunteer in the Chicago community who served on numerous Women’s Boards for not-forprofit organizations. The loving wife of the late Mr. Peter G. Torosian, President and Chairman of the American Rubber and Plastic Corporation of La Porte, Indiana; and mother of the late Frederick A. Titus. Mrs. Torosian will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her including her surviving family, Irene P. Titus, daughter-in-law; Jean Titus Kiene and Mark Titus, grandchildren; Lisbeth Lurey, granddaughter-in-law; Jean Elizabeth Kiene “Lisa,” Richard Hotchkiss Kiene III “Hotchy,” Charles Harvey Titus “Chas,” and Marissa Faith Titus “Missy,” great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Tuesday, September 11, at St. Chrysostom’s Church, 1424 N. Dearborn, 312-944-1083. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Children’s Home and Aid Society, or a charity of your choice.
