A kid with a bag of Skittles shot for being “suspicious.” My heart goes out to Trayvon Martin’s parents. My heart also goes out to all African-American teenagers who are now being told by the lack of action, by Sanford police, that their lives are dispensable.
Is that that message we want sent?
I hope for everyone’s sake that justice (an arrest of the admitted shooter) is done. This sweet-faced teenager had a life that was worth just as much as anyone else’s.
He should be in school today, eating Skittles and drinking iced tea.
