Former Hollywood heartthrob Colin Farrell has had some rough times lately.

The Irish actor, who roused acclaim and raced hearts in films such as “Tigerland,” “Daredevil,” “The Recruit” and “Minority Report,” has hit a rough patch lately.

In 2004, he steamed up the screen with Rosario Dawson in “Alexander,” but the film fizzled at the box office.

His movie “A Home at the End of the World” gained more press for what it didn’t show than what it did–the actor’s nude scene was cut before the film was released.

In 2005, a two-year-old sex tape featuring Farrell and former girlfriend Nicole Narain surfaced on the Web. Farrell had to go to court to stop the sites from showing the tape. All while he has been a single dad who doesn’t always get to see his son.

Don’t forget that last month, Farrell did a stint in rehab for exhaustion and an addiction to prescription medicine. Perhaps that’s why he hasn’t been photographed at any premieres for “The New World.”

Maybe the film will be the start of better times for Farrell, set to star with some of the hottest actors in Hollywood.

In July, he appears with Jamie Foxx in the highly anticipated, big-screen remake of “Miami Vice.”

He’s also filmed “Ask the Dust” with Salma Hayek and is scheduled to star in “Borgia” with Scarlett Johansson.
