Sharon Green, executive director of Y-Me, a national support organization for breast-cancer patients, received the Women Health Executives Network’s 1996 achievement award, says Phyllis Kopriva, president of the network.

“Sharon has put support and activism on the map with Y-Me,” says Kopriva. “Y-Me was the inspiration for a lot of similar support groups which have played a key role in women’s health groups.”

Green received the award Wednesday at the network’s annual dinner at the Fairmont Hotel, 200 N. Columbus Dr.

Previous recipients of the network’s achievement award include Susan Suter, former director of the Illinois Department of Public Aid, and Amy Coen, executive director of Planned Parenthood of Chicago.
