What two party system?

In anticipation of voting today I viewed the sample ballots for Cook County and local offices on the Internet. I was really disappointed in the number and quality of candidates seeking to obtain or retain public office. Republican candidates were conspicuous by their absence and virtually unknown and Democratic candidates were the same party hacks assured of election by the Democratic machine. This accounts for the poor election turn outs and dissatisfaction with our political process by the public and we suffer from the domination of one party rule.
